They say that swearing means a lack of vocabulary, but really, it just means you're more goddamn honest, according to a recent fucking study.
Published in Social Psychological and Personality Science, the study tested 276 participants by asking them to self-rate their honesty, swearing habits, and all that shit. It also analyzed the statuses of a fuckton of Facebook users (73,789, which everyone knows is a metric fuckton), all of whom used the myPersonality application.
Researchers also measured integrity using "state-level" measures such as judicial accountability (Connecticut, fittingly, is the state that swears the most and has the highest integrity level). Overall, researchers found a "robust" relationship between "profanity and honesty," and that relationship translates from the individual level to the societal level. Fucking mindblowing, huh?
