When he's not making movies, Leonardo DiCaprio spends his time advocating for environmental causes. (Well, that and planning a trip to Mars.) So it makes sense that he'd combine the two—but it is surprising that that combination comes in the form of a superhero movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, DiCaprio's production company is developing a movie around Captain Planet, that green-haired '90s superhero that fought eco-villains when summoned by the Planeteers. Those Planeteers brought him to life by combining their elemental forces of earth, fire, wind, water, and heart. If the theme song isn't stuck in your head yet, it will be now.

DiCaprio's company is likely working with Glen Powell, who stars on the Fox show Scream Queens, to co-write the script with Jono Matt. The movie will take place many years after the TV show, and Captain Planet will be "a washed-up has-been who needs the kids more than they need him." It's an easy bet that there will be "one last mission" involved somewhere in the plot.

It's unclear whether DiCaprio, Powell, or someone else will play the washed-up superhero. But they could always cast Don Cheadle, who has the experience necessary for a gritty reboot of the role.
